Thiago Nogueira

Thiago Rodrigues São Marcos Nogueira is Legal Coordinator and a Senior Researcher at the Center for Global Trade and Investments Studies and Project Manager at the WTO Chair Brazil. He is a professor of Public International Law and gives lectures in topics related to International Economic Law at a graduate level. He also was a Visiting Researcher at Georgetown University Law Center (2015-2016).

His current research covers international trade and currencies, sovereign debt restructuring, World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement and developing countries participation, preferential trade agreements and emerging democracies’ assertiveness in the WTO, private standards and new regulatory barriers to trade.

He is a doctoral candidate in a joint program between the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo and the University of Maastricht. He obtained a master’s degree in international law at the University of São Paulo, where he also obtained his LL.B.

He is also a fellow with the SYLFF/Tokyo Foundation Program, a Research Fellow at the Institute for International Economic Law (IIEL) in Georgetown University Law Center (2015) and a licensed lawyer in the Brazilian jurisdiction.
